Yehey! Filipinos in all walks of life today had paused for a while and said a little prayer for Manny Pacqiuao’s fight in Las Vegas. Indeed, he never disappointed his countrymen. Well, it’s just a lightweight division. He may only be one of the thousand boxers all over the world; yet, he is a pride of his countrymen despite the economic crisis. Filipinos are just so tired of struggling and working so hard everyday just to have something to eat on the table. Thus, watching a Filipino fight in an international arena just make everything bring to a halt for a while, forget all the worries and feel the excitement!
I was at the Filipino store this afternoon and all I hear is the heated conversation and bets of whose gonna win. Pacquaio, being the underdog had won the fight with a ninth-round knockout. I have always loved watching boxing although I’m so scared of blood. To me, it’s the spirit of the game that made it more interesting! It’s just like living, you may have all the talent and capabilities but if you don’t have the spirit and the courage- you’ll lose.
