Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

25 Grateful Heart's Words:
for me, no doubt it is only Jesus worth believing and the Bible worth the answer of all of life's questions!
have a wonderful weekend!
OMG!!! I just found out that I am so gullible.
I'm usually a bit cautious about things I've heard. When it's gossip, I remember that there's two sides to every story. And I wouldn't want people talking about me so I don't like to repeat it. And even when I listen to sermons or read Christian books, I am thoughtful about what I read. And I always go back to the Bible to see if it contradicts it. There are a lot of smooth talkers and charismatic personalities. But I like to make sure the message is true and not get caught up in the messenger.
How true and I am a skeptical person. Only when I've experienced it myself or have seen evidence myself that I believe in things, especially if these are controversial things.
Such a short but meaningful verse, thanks for sharing and happy blog hopping.
Btw, I find your blog inspiring, I have included you in my favorite writing sites.
All the best.
I believe what I know to be right in my heart, mind and soul.
We only need listen carefully to these areas and God will teach us what and how to believe.
This is my belief.
I am finally back Shawie. I have missed everyone so much and I am so very far behind!
I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!
Jackie:-)
Visiting here today sis and dropped EC too..God Bless!!
Shawnie thank you for sharing this. This is such wise counsel!! Thomas Jefferson said, when it comes to religion we must "question boldly." I also like what Debbie said about being cautious of gossip, very good counsel Debbie.
Most important place to seek for answers to questions is found in James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God."
Have a great day Shawnie!
The wise words of Buddha ring very true for me, particularly the part about authority - I always question that!
Thank you for reminding me of these simple truths, Shawie.
have a nice weekend,
Duni
And so I had heard and read the teaching of Buddha many years ago when I was still a student. The wisdom some 2,500 years ago is still as applicable in today as it was back then. However, this wisdom slipped past me so very often. Thank you for the reminder again.
I believe your right :P
Upon further observation and analysis, this makes sense to me! :)
And his words here are reflected in his approach to the Eightfold Path. He asks people to try it and verify it by their own experience.
Hi Shawie,
When I got these two awards I thought of you instantly.

Blessings my friend,
Jackie:-)
But in God's world, when you believe though you haven't seen it, and it doesn't make sense, it is faith.
The truth is only found in the Bible.
Those were very good advices from the Buddha. Very practical and witty, really. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
Hi, i liked your site and the topics you have here. Keep it up
thanks for sharing, please take time to get your Smart Blogger Award
Very wise words from the Buddha indeed.
These are wise words that we all could benefit from--regardless of which religion we profess.
Have a great day and thanks for sharing,
Sher :0)
These days I proceed with caution. And I believe none of what I hear and only some of what I see. Blessings.
Perhaps if more people headed these words, regardless of their religious beliefs, the world would be a little less insane.
Thank you for this reminder.
