If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
He learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
He learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
He learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
He learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.

10 Grateful Heart's Words:
This poem is so true. Kids for the most part are mirror image of their childhood. Thanks for sharing Shawie.
Yes, that is all so true. Children will learn what their parents will teach them. So we must teach them the right values in life. Thanks for this post. God bless you always.

My parents had this poem hung on our kitchen wall growing up and I remember reading it growing up and never understanding it. You brought back memories reading this again - how different it is now that I have a child. Thanks for posting this - so true!
Cheers!
